India, China and Indonesia lead with highest number of mobile subscriptions. However, in India and China the percentage of population with mobile subscriptions are very low when compared to other countries. Taiwan leads with little less than 120% followed by Indonesia and South Korea.

"In the final quarter of 2010 Fortune reported that Smartphones outsold PC’s for the first time, a full two years before the prediction by Morgan Stanley. Moreover, Gartner’s predicted that by 2013, mobile phones will overtake PCs as the most common Web access deviceworldwide."

MOBILE PHONE TRENDS

Eventhough India and China have highest number of mobile phone subscriptions not many subscribers have access to data on go, which would be very critical for success of Skyepack. As seen in the graph below the percentage of mobile phone subscribers who have data is just 8%, 25% and 18% respectively in India, China and Indonesia.

"If mobile workers could choose only one device, 46 % of them would pick a smartphone over a tablet or a laptop as their favorite one. The iPhone still trumps other mobile devices, with 30% of mobile workers selecting it if they had only one choice, followed by an iPad (22%) and a laptop (21%)."
